A few days ago, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) released a report on the increase in electronic attacks against manufacturing and construction entities. This strategic analysis seeks to provide relevant information on the aforementioned crimes to the general public, including consumers, the media, and a wide range of companies and industries. The report shows important statistics on the link between commercial email engagement and the manufacturing and construction industries. In the years of 2017 and 2018, the manufacturing and construction industries accounted for approximately 20 to 25 percent of all commercial email engagement attacks, meaning losses of $ 301 million. You could say that the main method of electronic attack is the commitment of commercial email (BEC), defined by FinCEN as “a type of scam that targets companies (and other types of organizations, such as educational institutions, government and non-profit organizations) and their funds transfers. Scammers generally target organizations that make large electronic transfers in the course of their usual business activities and rely on email for much of their communication regarding cables. ”
